Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of the Avora app (“Avora”, “the app”), developed by Dmitri Rosca (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using Avora you agree to them. If you do not agree, please don’t use the app.
1. The app
Avora offers Bible verses, prayers, quotes, affirmations, a personal prayer journal, reading plans, widgets, Prayer Lock and optional AI features for devotional use. Much of the app is free. Some features are part of the paid Avora Premium subscription, described in the app before you buy.
If you downloaded Avora from the Apple App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. If these terms conflict with it, these terms apply to the extent the law and Apple allow.
2. Avora Premium subscription
Plans. Avora Premium is offered as a monthly or yearly auto-renewing subscription. Current prices for your country are shown in the app before purchase.
Free trial. Where offered, a free trial lasts the period shown in the app (for example, 7 days). Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the subscription starts automatically and you are charged for the first period. Any unused part of a trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
Payment and renewal. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase (or when the trial ends). The subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
Cancelling. You can manage or cancel at any time in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Premium until the end of the period you have paid for.
Refunds. Purchases are processed by Apple, so refund requests go to Apple under its policies at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds ourselves.
Price changes. If the price changes, Apple will notify you in advance and, where required, ask for your consent before the new price applies.
Premium is tied to the Apple ID you bought it with. Use “Restore” on the Premium screen to restore it on another device signed in to the same Apple ID.
3. AI features
AI features generate prayers, explanations and topic suggestions automatically with a third-party language model. They are offered for personal reflection and inspiration.
AI answers may be inaccurate, incomplete or theologically imperfect. Always check Scripture itself and, where it matters, talk with your pastor or spiritual mentor.
Avora is not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, legal or crisis help. If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, contact local emergency services or a crisis line right away.
Free users have a daily AI allowance; Premium extends it. We may limit use to protect the service from abuse.
You agree not to use AI features to create unlawful, hateful or abusive content, or to try to extract or overload the underlying systems.
4. Prayer Lock
Prayer Lock is an optional tool that uses Apple’s Screen Time to keep apps you choose closed until you read the verse of the day. It is meant to support a habit, not to control anyone else’s device. It depends on iOS and may not work in every situation (for example, after an iOS update or if Screen Time access is revoked). You can always turn it off in the app or in iPhone Settings → Screen Time. We are not responsible for anything you miss while an app you chose to lock was closed. Prayer Lock is part of Premium after any free period shown in the app.
5. Your content
Your journal entries, favorites and settings are stored only on your device and remain yours. You are responsible for keeping your device backed up if you want to keep them. Text you send to an AI feature is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
6. Texts and content in the app
- The Bible translations in Avora are in the public domain: King James Version, Bible in Basic English, Russian Synodal Translation, Ohienko Bible (Ukrainian), Reina-Valera 1909, Bíblia Portuguesa Mundial, Luther Bible 1912, Louis Segond 1910 and the Korean Revised Version (개역한글).
- Quotes come from authors and works in the public domain; their translations into the app’s languages are ours.
- Topical verse selection draws in part on data from OpenBible.info, licensed under CC BY.
- Background photos come from Pexels and Kaboompics and are used under their respective licenses.
- Prayers, affirmations, the app’s design, code, translations and compilation are owned by us and licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use within the app. You may share verse cards and individual texts with friends and on social media.
7. Acceptable use
Please don’t copy, resell or redistribute the app or its content collections, reverse-engineer it except where the law allows, interfere with its servers, or use it in any unlawful way.
8. Availability and changes
We work to keep Avora reliable, but the app and its online features are provided “as is” and may change, be interrupted or be discontinued. We may add, change or remove features. If we discontinue Premium features you have paid for, we will try to give reasonable notice; refunds remain subject to Apple’s policies.
9. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Avora is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for loss of data stored on your device. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for Avora Premium in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.
10. Termination
You can stop using Avora at any time by deleting it; remember to cancel any subscription in your Apple ID settings. We may restrict access to online features if these terms are seriously breached.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will post the new version here with a new date and, for material changes, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Avora after changes take effect means you accept them.
