Avora

Privacy Policy

Effective 23 October 2026 · Applies to the Avora app

Avora is a Christian app with daily Bible verses, prayers, quotes and affirmations. We built it so that what you write and save stays yours. In short: no account, no ads, no tracking, and your journal never leaves your device.

The short version

  • Favorites, your prayer journal, settings and streaks are stored only on your device.
  • If you use an AI feature, the text you send is processed to produce the answer and is not stored by us.
  • Purchases are handled by Apple and our subscription provider RevenueCat, using an anonymous ID.
  • We do not sell or share your data for advertising, and we use no analytics or advertising SDKs.

1. Who we are

Avora (“we”, “us”) is developed by Dmitri Rosca, an independent developer. For any privacy question, write to support@avorabible.app.

2. Data that stays on your device

The following is saved in the app’s private storage on your phone and is never sent to us:

Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets read a list of verses that the app places in storage shared only between the app and its widgets on your device. Daily reminders are scheduled locally by your phone’s operating system; we do not use a push notification server.

Because this data never reaches us, we cannot see, restore or delete it for you. Deleting the app deletes it. Your device backup (for example iCloud) may include it under your own account with Apple.

3. AI features

“Pray with me”, “Explain this verse” and the topic search are optional. When you use one, the app sends the text you typed (or the verse you asked about), your app language and Bible translation to our server, which forwards the text to OpenAI to generate the response.

What is sent: that text, the language and translation, and a random install ID that the app creates on first launch. The install ID is not linked to your name, Apple ID, email or device identifiers; it lets our server enforce fair-use limits. No name, contact details or location are attached.

Storage: our server does not record or store what you type. It keeps only a counter of how many AI requests an install ID made today, which expires automatically after about one day. Explanations of Bible verses are cached and reused for everyone, because they contain only the verse, not anything about you. OpenAI processes API data under its API data usage policy: it is not used to train their models and may be kept for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring before deletion.

Where: our server runs on Cloudflare’s global network; OpenAI processes data in the United States.

Your choice: please don’t include details you would not want processed this way, such as other people’s names or health information. Every other part of the app works without AI.

AI answers are generated automatically. They can be imperfect and are not a substitute for pastoral, medical or psychological help.

4. Speaking affirmations aloud (microphone)

In affirmation practice you can say an affirmation aloud and watch the words light up. Only for this, and only after you allow it, Avora uses the microphone and Apple’s speech recognition. Your voice is turned into text by Apple’s speech service, which may process the audio on your device or on Apple’s servers under Apple’s privacy policy. Avora does not record, save or send your voice or the recognized text to us. You can turn off microphone and speech recognition access at any time in iPhone Settings → Avora.

5. Prayer Lock (Screen Time)

Prayer Lock is optional. It uses Apple’s Screen Time framework (Family Controls) to keep the apps you choose closed until you read the verse of the day. Apple shows you the app picker and gives Avora only anonymous tokens for your selection: we cannot see which apps you chose or how you use them, and nothing about it leaves your device. You can turn Prayer Lock off in the app or revoke access in iPhone Settings → Screen Time.

6. Subscriptions and purchases

Avora Premium is sold through the App Store. Apple processes your payment; we never receive your card details, name or Apple ID.

To know whether your subscription is active, the app uses RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives a randomly generated anonymous user ID, your purchase and subscription history (product, price, currency, dates, renewal status), your storefront country and basic technical information (app version, operating system version). It does not receive your name or email.

7. Backgrounds and fonts

A few background photos are built into the app. When you pick another one, the app downloads it from our website, avorabible.app. Like any web server, our hosting provider receives your IP address and a standard technical request; these server logs are kept only for security and are deleted on a short rolling basis. No other data is sent.

The fonts the app uses most are built in. If the app needs an additional font style, it downloads it from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address and a standard technical request. See Google’s privacy policy.

8. Sharing and saving

When you share a verse card, Avora creates the image on your device and hands it to the app you choose through the iOS share sheet or, for Instagram Stories, directly to Instagram. From then on, that app’s own privacy policy applies. Avora does not log in to your social accounts and receives nothing back. If you save a card or wallpaper, Avora asks for permission to add it to your photo library; it does not read your existing photos.

9. What we don’t do

10. Why we may process data (legal bases)

Where data protection law such as the GDPR applies, we rely on: performing our contract with you (delivering the AI answers you request, the backgrounds you choose and the subscription you buy); our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and preventing abuse of the AI server; and complying with legal obligations (for example, tax records kept by Apple and RevenueCat). Using an AI feature is your choice each time, and by using it you consent to the processing and international transfer described in section 3.

12. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to your data protection authority. Since we hold no account data, most of what Avora knows about you is on your device and in your control. For anything held by RevenueCat, email us with the approximate date of your purchase so we can find the record; we will respond within 30 days.

To stop all AI processing, simply don’t use the AI features. To cancel a subscription, use your Apple ID subscription settings.

13. Children

Avora is suitable for a general audience but is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data through an AI feature, contact us and we will help delete what we can.

14. Security

All connections from the app to our server and providers are encrypted (HTTPS). Data on your device is protected by your phone’s own security, such as your passcode and device encryption.

15. Changes

If we change how Avora handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes we will also tell you in the app before they take effect.
